US carries out 1,000th execution

Hooray for us!!  We are in the record books again!  If we keep killing we could wipe out our own population.  That would be good for the world if there were fewer destructive Americans around.  Has the death penalty actually discouraged violent crime in his country?  Does the prison system actually rehabilitate it’s inmates?  Is it even possible to rehabiliate a person?  Ask Tookie Williams.
Though a majority of people in the US back the death penalty, polls indicate support is starting to wane.

“This 1,000th execution is a milestone. It’s a milestone we should all be ashamed of,” Boyd’s lawyer Thomas Maher said after watching the execution.

Amnesty International’s Kate Allen said that the landmark death “puts the US in the same company as countries like China, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam”.
