SAMMY DAVIS JR. READY FOR HIS CLOSEUP: Multiple projects about the entertainer in the works.

Looks like 2006 and 2007 will be to Sammy Davis Jr. what 2004 was to Ray Charles.

On Thursday (Feb. 23), the two-man show “Mr. Bojangles” debuts at the Mohegan Sun Hotel and Casino in Connecticut featuring such Davis hits as the title song, “Candy Man,” and “What Kind of Fool Am I?” Davis’ widow Altovise says the show will head to London and perhaps Broadway in an extended version after the Mohegan run.

“Sammy was so well loved in London,” she told Fox 411, “we have to go there.”

A Sammy Davis Jr. documentary is also in the works based on the singer’s two best-selling memoirs.

“Sammy can narrate it because we have hundreds of hours of his tapes,” Altovise said.

The legendary showman’s wife says she’s about to write her own book about their 20-year marriage, and is hoping to do a bio movie of Sammy’s life in the vein of Universal’s Ray Charles biopic “Ray.”
