My Macintosh G5 scares me out of my seat.

I’ve got an older (1.8GHz) G5 that plays a incredibly loud buzzing noise when errors or other alert conditions occur. The terrible sound also presents itself when trying to change the alert sound in Sys Prefs.

I’ve got two hdds in the machine, each has Panther installed on it. The buzz only occurs on the default Panther installation. All other sounds, including MP3’s and other music and videos, play just fine. It’s just those blasted alert sounds that make me jump every time.

I’ve been looking around trying to find out where/how I can reinstall the alert sounds, but haven’t found any solutions.

Can anyone help?
