Mos Def in Court Over Child Support

It doesn’t take 10K per month to raise children people have been doing it for years on much less than that. Some people are just GREEDY!

Mos Def spent Valentine’s Day in court arguing over the amount of child support payments that should be given to his ex-wife, Maria Yepes-Smith.

The rapper, whose real name is Dante Smith, was originally ordered to pay $10,000 a month to support his 7- and 8-year-old daughters.  But since the order was issued, Mos has paid roughly $8,000 a month, explaining that obligations to his three other children and other business issues prevented him from making the court ordered amount.

Mos Def also argued that his payments should be lowered because Yepes-Smith reneged on an agreement to home school the children.
“I’m the only person who’s providing for my children,” Mos Def told Judge Sarah Krauss.
In arguing in favor of the $10,000 per month court-ordered payments, Yepes-Smith’s lawyer Karen Blaustein cited the new trailers for Mos Def’s upcoming film “16 Blocks” with Bruce Willis. “I’ve been seeing him in these commercials,” Blaustein told The New York Post after the hearing. “I’m sure he made enough money to pay his child support for his 7- and 8-year-old daughters.”
