Little Marietou in Rufisque, Senegal 1997

Little Marietou was so scared of me when I first arrived in 1997.  She was the only child that wouldn’t shake my hand.  Everytime I started to say something she would run away or cower under her mother’s clothing.  During the trip I took this year she acted completely different.  This time she wouldn’t STOP shaking my hand and she started crying when I left her house on the way to the airport.

The subject of your picture validates for me that beauty is international. Her eyes are captivating. Her expression draws me into the picture. Good exposure even with the light shinning on her forehead.
