I’m Frustrated and Pissed Off

I’m frustrated for many reasons.

First, i’m frustrated for standing in line for 4.75 hours to vote and when I finally got inside I discovered there were only two poll workers at my precinct.

I’m frustrated because of the ignorance of some of my people.  While attending my youngest son’s fall baseball tournament over the weekend the topic came up about who we would vote for President.  Several people said they were voting for GB because he’s a Christian another people said he was voting Republican because it’s the party of our people.  None of the people who made the Chirstian reference could give me an example of why they believed GB is a Christian other than “because he said he is.” I’m not going in to the rest of the conversation but just hearing these things frustrates the hell (can I say hell?) out of me.  I asked the “Republican” guy what makes him think it’s the “party of our people” he lifted his chest and he said proudly (get this) “because when George Washington was President, he was a Republican and he freed our people.” I said, don’t you mean Lincoln and brother you’re not free.  He had a few more words that I tried hard not to hear.  Another one of your brothers who happened to be cleaning the park chimed in and said he is also voting for GB because “a few years ago I was real poor making bout $5 an hour now I’m making $8 an hour.” Does this guy not know that he is still poor?  The discussion went on for most of the ball game but after a while I tried to tune the ignorance out and watch my son play ball.

I was more frustrated after the elections and I don’t have to say why.  Having suffered through the night watching the election results I was still able to make it to work on time.  I was at Taco Mac in downtown Decatur, GA having lunch with some co-workers including my
Director, and the topic of the day was the election results.  Another customers sitting at another table and who happens to be one of my sisters added her two cents worth to our conversation.  Her comments sent chills down my spine.  She said, see that’s why I didn’t vote, they gone pick who they want to pick for President anyway.  That was the straw that broke the camel’s back.  That was not what I needed or wanted to hear.  I don’t remember what I and my co-workers said to her and I know it wasn’t anything good, but she left cursing.

I know that I’m responsible for me and mine and I have to make things happen for myself.  I’m not going to let this discourage me because my faith is in “GOD” not “Bush”.  I chuckle right now because I’m reflecting back on one of GB’s speeches when he said John 16:3 was his favorite bible scripture when he meant John 3:16.  I’m wondering if who ever wrote that speech for him knew what they were writing.  John 16:3 says, “And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the father, nor me.” John 16:2 says, “They shall put you our of the synagogues; yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.”

Maybe he and his followers should have started with the first book of the New Testament.  Matthew 5:9 says, “Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God.”

I rest my case.
