Brock Peters, “To Kill A Mockingbird” star dies


Peters’ career spanned several decades
Actor Brock Peters, who played one of the main roles in the film To Kill A Mockingbird, has died at the age of 78.

Peters, who had pancreatic cancer, played a man falsely accused of raping a white woman in the racial drama based on the Harper Lee novel.

Gregory Peck played the lawyer called upon to defend him in the 1962 film, which won Peck a best actor Oscar.

In 1991 Peters, whose other films included Soylent Green, won a lifetime award from the Screen Actors Guild.
