The Seattle Times: Local News: Woman loses her job over coffins photo

Doesn’t this sound like another case of the government censoring news designed for the people?  Doesn’t this sound like tactics used by fascist nations to control their “subjects”?
Doesn’t this sound like an administration that is more concerned with reelection protection than national unity and understanding?

Anyway, read the old news yourself.

By Hal Bernton
Seattle Times staff reporter

A military contractor has fired Tami Silicio, a Kuwait-based cargo worker whose photograph of flag-draped coffins of fallen U.S. soldiers was published in Sunday’s edition of The Seattle Times.

Silicio was let go yesterday for violating U.S. government and company regulations, said William Silva, president of Maytag Aircraft, the contractor that employed Silicio at Kuwait International Airport.

“I feel like I was hit in the chest with a steel bar and got my wind knocked out. I have to admit I liked my job, and I liked what I did,” Silicio said.

Come and listen

This was funny to me… I received it in email from a co worker.

Subject:† Whoever put this together is a good poet!†
Sing along,† folks—to the tune of Beverly Hillbillies:†
Come and listen to my story ‘bout a boy named Bush.† His IQ was zero and his head was up his tush.† He drank like a fish while he drove a car about.† But† that didn’t matter ‘cuz his daddy bailed him out. DUI,† that is.† Criminal record.† Cover-up.† Well, the first thing you know little Georgie goes to Yale.† He can’t spell his name but† they never let him fail.† He spends all his time hangin’† out with student folk.† And that’s when he learns how to† snort a line of coke.† Blow, that is.† White† gold.† Nose candy.† The next thing you know there’s a war in Vietnam.† Kin† folks say, “George, stay at home with Mom."† Let the† common people get maimed and
scarred.† We’ll buy you up a† spot in the Texas National Guard.† Cush, that is. Country clubs.† Nose candy.† Twenty years later George gets a little bored.† He trades in the booze, says that Jesus is his Lord.† He said, “Now the White House is the place I wanna be."† So he called his daddy’s friends and they called the GOP.† Gun owners, that is.† Falwell.† Jesse Helms.† Come November 7,† the election ran late.† Kin folks said “Jeb, give the boy† your state!"† “Don’t let those colored folks get anywhere† near polls."† So they put up barricades so they couldn’t† punch their holes.† Chads, that is.† Duval† County.† Miami-Dade. Before the votes were counted all the five Supremes stepped in.† Told all the voters “Hey, we want our George to win."† “Stop counting votes!” was their solemn invocation.† And that’s how little Georgie finally got his coronation. Rigged, that is.† Illegitimate.† No moral authority.† Y’all come vote now.† Ya

Stanford’s Montgomery Offers Lawrence Hill

Anthony Ray Recruiting Analyst

Stanford Head Coach Mike Montgomery visited the state of Arizona Thursday to offer Lawrence Hill
Deer Valley High School’s 6’8” junior Lawrence Hill is among the nation’s top rated prospects by numerous top rated scouting services. One school who has taken notice of Hill’s top play last summer as well as his potential for the future is the University of Stanford. While Hill is currently rated #46 overall among the nation’s 2005 prospects by Clark Francis of Hoop Scoop, only UCLA has offered an official scholarship to Hill thus far. While North Carolina State, Louisville, Illinois, and Arizona State have all also shown a lot of interest in Hill thus far, only one school has offered up until last Thursday when Stanford University’s Head Coach Mike Montgomery visited Deer Valley High School to make an official offer to the national 2005 target Lawrence Hill.

According to Hill’s father Larry, he and his family were very impressed with the Stanford Head Coach and his plans for their son’s future. They advised Arizona Preps that while Stanford seems like a perfect fit for their son, they are also considering taking visits to other schools as well to make sure that they pick the right school.

While Montgomery was very impressive, so was University of Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino, who spoke with Lawrence and his parents over the phone last week. Larry Hill advised us that Lawrence also had a very good conversation with Pitino, and that they are considering numerous schools at this point, and are not ruling out anyone since it is still too early to make any decisions.

“Many schools think that Lawrence is just going to go to Stanford, but we are not ruling out anyone right now,” Larry Hill told Arizona Preps.

Hill will travel this weekend to Las Vegas with the Arizona Magic travelling team for the Las Vegas Spring Showcase which will be held April 16-18.
